Sending a Datafile Using Satellite
This process describes the process of sending the datafile using a satellite phone. Other satellite services may use a similar process.

         1. Connect the satellite phone to the appropriate COM port on the computer.

         2.   Run the Mobile Office program by double clicking its icon on the screen.

         3.   In the menu click Session and then Settings.

         4.   Select the proper COM port (the one to which the phone is connected).

         5.   Set the Baud Rate (usually 2400 or 4800 but if you don't get connected try different rates).

         6.   Ensure that RTS/CTS and Encryption are enabled.

         7.   Make sure the Encrypt Key, User Name and Password are all correct.

         8.   If you are phoning long distance make sure the phone number includes 1 and the area code.

         9.   Click Modem and select the appropriate modem for the phone being used and click Select (do not click OK as this has no effect).

        10.   Click OK.

        11.   In the menu click Session and then Connect.

With mobile communications there is always a chance of connection/communication errors. If the process fails, try exiting Mobile Office and running it again. The Session Settings will have been saved so all you have to do is Connect. Try it a few times. If it still doesn't work, double check your Session Settings and try varying the baud rate.

Sending the File
Once you are connected to satellite you can send the file:

         1. In the menu click Mail and Send Mail File.

         2.   Type in the User ID that you are sending to.

         3.   Click Browse.

         4.   In the Folders window open the c:\ folder (a folder is opened by double clicking on it) and then the c:\testpr~1 folder.

         5.   Select the File Name (of the datafile you want to send) from the list.

         6.   Click OK.

         7.   Type the well location number in the Subject field so the recipient will recognize the file.

         8.   Click Send.

         9.   Watch to make sure the status reaches 100%. If the file starts to send but fails to reach 100% then the signal strength is probably weak. You may be successful if you try again or you may have to reposition the sending unit for better signal strength.

        10.   Once the file has finished sending, exit Mobile Office (it will disconnect automatically).

Retrieving a Datafile
Once you have connected to satellite you can retrieve a datafile:

         1. In the menu click Mail and then Get Mail.

         2.   If the file you want to download is not visible in the window that appears, then click All and Get Messages.

         3.   Double click on the datafile to be downloaded.

         4.   A box will come up asking whether you want to download the file, click Yes.

         5.   In the Folders window open the c:\ folder (a folder is opened by double clicking on it) and then the c:\testpr~1 folder.

         6.   Type in a File Name for the datafile making sure it is no longer that 8 characters followed by the extension ".xls".

         7.   Click the OK button at the upper right in the window (not the lower left one).

         8.   Wait for the file to finish downloading and then exit Mobile Office (it will disconnect automatically).

Note: You can now run TestPro® and open the file to view the data.
